Degrees Weather App Reviews

Out of all the weather apps I have been searching for, none is more appealing and FREE than Degrees Weather. Of course you can upgrade to pro, but as it is I wouldn’t substitute the app for anything else. Install it for yourself!

I noticed right away that this app doesn’t have an option to indicate the ‘feels like’ temperature (which is important in Ontario weather… for example, the humidity today is adding another 7 degrees to the air temperature!). I thought I’d send feedback to the developer asking if they might add this feature. Clicking the ‘feedback’ menu item brought up a system prompt informing me that Degrees wanted to access my Contacts. I declined, and could not provide feedback. Why would a weather app need to know who’s in my contacts? Seems sketchy. But hey, if you just want the air temperature and don’t think you’ll ever need to offer feedback or ask for support, you can’t go wrong I guess.

The Degrees Pro iOS app suddenly stopped updating the forecast and disappeared from the App Store. This was a week ago and the devs have not responded to repeated e-mails. These are not the actions of a reliable company.

This seems to be the most popular weather app for the Mac. Unfortunate that it won’t work for any Canadian locations.

it just shows 2 dashes where the temperature should be. this is useless.

Stays at “—C” forever. Never updates even if I force the locations manually. Useless app.

Typical: if you’re not in the US, you don’t matter. Don’t get this app unless you’re INSIDE the borders. Canada doesn’t exist to the makers of this app (nor does any other country, I’d assume).

Unfortunatley the thing doesn’t work at all. Doesn’t find any Canadian locations and auto detect location doesn’t work at all.

This app used to be able to translate Fahrenheit to Celsius. No longer. It tells me its 34c outside when its actually about 1C, or 34F.

It was working just fine until a few days ago. Now, it says that we’re 47ºC/117ºF during the day in March in Canada… how’s that for global warming? I’ve tried everything but it’s just screwed up. Was nice while it worked. Would give it 4 stars if it was accurate again.

Once upon a time, I liked this. Lately, though, it’s been unbelievably wrong. I can assure all that Toronto, Ontario on March 28th is not 40 C. It’s barely 40F! Settings are set correctly, but wrong info gets displayed, and this happens often. And it often shuts down for no reason. Unreliable!

I’m not sure why this application is still in the Mac App Store becasuse it simply does not work. Don’t even bother downloading it.

Was very useful app but stopped working a few days ago, tried to contact support - no response.

Suddenly the app had 3 crashes in 2 days. The app is now broken. It wouldnt detect my location. Searching location doesnt work either. Emailed the developer with crash report attached, but I havent heard from them... Please, fix the app!

Poorly designed, just wants user to add upgrade...

Downloaded it, and it didn’t work. Just shows two dashes. Tried everything - restarting my computer, making sure location servies was enabled, typing my city, typing my postal code… nothing. I live in Canada, seems like people in Ontario can use this but not elsewhere? It won’t even work if I type in a location in the USA. No reply from the support team.

The free version, designed to intrigue, offers only current detail but no predictions. One expects to like the app enough to purchase the full version. Unfortunately it does not work, providing no data at all. I see other reviews of similar problems. It can neither detect my location nor respond to my manually entered location. It sits there like a beautiful car body without an engine under the hood. As one reviewer put it, and I think it bears repeating, “you had one thing to do and one thing only, and your utterly failed at that”

I liked this app when I first downloaded it a couple of years ago. This app no longer presents accurate weather forecasts. The temperature is usually 5-10 degrees different than Environment Canada. For several months it has been very crashy. It rarely stays active for more than about 4 hours, and then just disappears from the menu bar. I’ve emailed the developer several times with no response. Can no longer recommend this app.

It is no longer able to connect to the service, it doesn’t detect the location properly, or at all. and if you manually enter the location, you get no updates or information. i just doesn’t work anymore.

Well, it used to work on my old iMac but since I changed machine, it not longer does (can’t find my location anymore). The feedback button or the support link on the main webpage of this application are both dead ends because the server can’t be found. Since it’s not a so useful app, there’s not point trying to get it because there’s many more interesting ways of wasting its own time.
